Rituals & Mitzvot

Judaism is held together by mitzvot, the rituals (or, literally, commandments). There are daily mitzvot, such as praying, giving tzedakah, and saying blessings over our food, as well as occasional or seasonal mitzvot—for instance, eating matzah on Passover, or living in a sukkah during the festival of Sukkot.

Likewise, some mitzvot instruct us what not to do--for instance, lying, spreading gossip, or murder.
